Historical reflection is hardly an issue for many of the new generation of East Europeans, even though most have experienced dramatic, historical moments first-hand. The push for the New without regard for the past is not acceptable, according to the young Estonian curator, Hanno Soans. A close look at the artist Jan Toomik shows it’s time to view art within its historical context.
