In the rooms of De Ateliers, thousands of years will be explored through work from the previous two years at the Werkplaats Typografie.

Werkplaats Typografie End of Year Show 2012 presents the work produced in the past two years at the graphic design Master programme Werkplaats Typografie / ArtEZ Institute of the Arts and is arranged chronologically on a timeline. Work is given a date according to what it carries with it in terms of content, form or associative references. The timeline is fictional.
The exhibition includes an overview of what the participants of the Werkplaats Typografie use as part of their on-going research and studio practice. The captions will lead you through sixteen different histories gathered, for two days, as an accumulating plateau of books, spells, web-pages, posters, songs, interventions, failures, moving images and improbable objects. This is a graphic design exhibition.

Op initiatief van tegenstanders van de nieuwbouw van het Museum voor Moderne Kunst en het filmhuis in het centrum van Arnhem is een referendum gehouden. Een meerderheid van 85,4 procent van de stemmers is tegen het kunstpaleis. Maar omdat de opkomst slechts 17,7 procent was, terwijl 30 procent was vereist, is de uitslag ongeldig. De gemeenteraad kan nu zelf beslissen en die is vóór. DR - 17.05.13

Een Duits onderzoek wijst uit: in 2012 hadden alle Duitse galeries bij elkaar zo'n 250 miljoen euro omzet. In Berlijn zorgden 20 galeries voor 50 % van de totale omzet in de stad. Galeries bestrijden de zin van de cijfers. DR - 17.05.13

Het plaatje van de 'retro-digitale' kunst van Nicolas Sassoon bij het stuk van Daniël van der Poel in Metropolis M Nr 2-2013 was misschien wat klein. Hier wat andere voorbeelden van zijn werk in een recente tentoonstelling, met, vrij cruciaal in zijn geval, ook bewegend beeld. DR - 17.05.13

Nederland heeft benefietveilingen, waar Job Ubbens van Christie's wel eens vrijwillig de hamer zwaait, New York heeft zijn charity auctions, waar Mr Simon de Pury soms bereid blijkt de hamer nog eens ter hand te nemen, zoals afgelopen week. Het top lot: $170.000 voor een week op het jacht van Dakis Joannou, dat ontworpen is door Jeff Koons. Ik heb het jacht maar even opgezocht. Dit is 'm. DR - 16.05.13

Kunst in de Amsterdamse metro 16.05.13
Het College van B&W van Amsterdam heeft besloten welke kunstenaars hun ontwerpen mogen realiseren in de nieuwe metrostations van de Noord/Zuidlijn.

In Haarlem bepalen de wethouders liever zelf wat voor beeld er in de openbare ruimte komt. Die hebben geen kunstcommissie meer nodig. Met gevolg een Kenau van 4 meter hoog op het stationsplein.
