WORM closes?

It is almost certain that WORM, in it's current form, will cease to exist after 2012, if the advices from the Rotterdam Council for Art and Culture (RRKC) and The Netherlands Architecture Fund are followed up. There's even a chance that we have to close our doors this fall. So don't wait too long and be sure to drop by. It might be your last chance...

Following the proposed cuts WORM will lose more than 50% of it's structural income. At this moment we are busy making a plan where, with a reduced income and a major reorganization, we can make a new start whilst still doing justice to the ideas and the position WORM has in the cultural field. This will require additional structural resources.

The options are:

The advices are followed up resulting in WORM closing it's doors. WORM disappears and all employees lose their jobs.

WORM receives additional structural funds and continues in a downsized and restructured form. The programme will be filled in with occasional projects and funding.

In the first case it's very unfortunate for the international offer and talent development in the city, and it would be a terrible destruction of capital of a well-equipped space that just opened seven months ago and is internationally regarded as one of the most striking examples of re-use architecture. Our goal is to convince the municipality of Rotterdam to support us in a fashion so that we can realize the second option.

Do you want to be 100% sure to experience an event at WORM, please come by. Come by and experience it now, before it's too late! Our programme is worth your while.

We will keep you informed.

Leuk portret van Jeff Koons: Three decades into a choppy but astonishingly high-profile career, Koons remains something of a boy wonder—a trim, soft-spoken, systematic, and tightly scheduled puppet master who speaks in a reassuring near singsong, his language all patient, bright-eyed affirmation, as if reciting from a well-worn, well-worked-out self-help text .
