Everywhere in the visual art world, voices are rising. In the beginning they spoke about art, today they speak as art. What is the meaning of this shift away from the visual?

The VOICE Special presents a comprehensive essay by Mark Beasley, a curator who has studied the various manifestations of the voice in art and culture; Adam Pendleton, a New York artist and performer, famous for the performance Black Dada; and Mladen Dolar, a cultural theorist and expert on psychoanalysis who has investigated the meaning of the voice in several books.
