In her paintings Jutta Koether has become somewhat of a gonzo art historian, paying homage to artists like Poussin, Manet and Cézanne. Only she does this in an arch, postpunk manner reminiscent of experimental writers like Kathy Acker or Ms. Koether’s occasional collaborator Kim Gordon.
