Wim Waelput appointed director of La Loge
La Loge is pleased to announce the appointment of Wim Waelput as the new director. He will succeed Anne-Claire Schmitz, La Loge’s director since its founding in 2012. Wim Waelput will take up his position in January 2020.
Wim Waelput (Ghent, 1979) is the founding director of KIOSK, a venue for contemporary art, affiliated with KASK School of Arts in Ghent. At KIOSK, he has curated numerous solo exhibitions of emerging artists, in addition to duo and group exhibitions. In collaboration with Igor Mocanu, he recently curated Perspectives, currently on view at Bozar, as part of Europalia Romania.
At KASK School of Arts, he has been the coordinator and curator of the Graduation exhibition. He is member of the acquisition committee of the collection of the Flemish Community. He has been a guest lecturer and tutor at various universities and art schools, and he has been a member of several juries and advisory boards.
Wim Waelput: “I look forward to collaborating with the team and board on writing a new chapter for La Loge. A new episode that interprets local concerns in a broader international context, and creates a cultural understanding of our globalized reality and its heterogeneous nature. I wish to facilitate the possibility for an open and unique dialogue between artists, architects, thinkers, the international art world and the local community and audience at large.”
