Ongezien in 2014 Yan Tamkovich
Autonomous replicas was a tiny exhibition shown from July till September at the Moscow studio of the emerging Russian artist Yan Tamkovich. The show was based on the biography of several modernist stars: Paul Cézanne, Georges Braque and especially Pablo Picasso. There are some programs for young artists in Russia but no institution offers any support for Tamkovich. So during the whole year he was doing his daytime job and the same time buying authentic artifacts of the 1910s at online auctions. The exhibition was totally invisible for mainstream art press in Russia but was considered quite interesting by the old school conceptual artists who visited it.
