Jessica Morgan (1968) is op het moment directeur van Dia Art Foundation in New York, waar ze in 2015 begon. Daarvoor werkte ze al voor Tate en Tate Modern als curator. Ze werkte als hoofd curator voor het Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston en als curator bij het Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. Daarnaast cureerde ze een retrospectief van Lee Ufan bij SMAC in Venice (2026). Ze was artistiek directeur voor de 10e Gwangju Biennale in 2014.

Jessica Morgan: “It is an immense privilege to be asked by the Trustees to become the new Director. Tate is undoubtedly the world’s foremost institution for international modern and contemporary art and for British art, leading the field through its collection and exhibition programme. My time as a curator at Tate deeply informed my work in the last eleven years steering Dia Art Foundation, with artists and our public always at the centre of what we do. I look forward to this pivotal next stage at Tate, and most importantly, continuing and advancing the incredible work of Tate’s committed and talented team in the years to come.”

Morgans aanstelling gaat samen met grote bezuinigingen bij het museum. In The Guardian schrijft Lanra bakare: ‘Described as “an agent of change” by Tate, Morgan will need to guide the organisation through a difficult financial landscape, raise poor staff morale and grapple with fluctuating visitor numbers.’
